Web Content/Dev

VERZON SURROUND:

Verizon Surround was first developed in order to highlight the promise that a broadband Internet connection could offer. In its early stage it was highly experiment, as various departments within the company explored exactly how to use the new speedy capability - and how it was to be momotized. The faster the Internet became, the more broadband services were offered by Verizon.

Today, Verizon FiOS, with its new fiber optics infrastructure, installed all the way up to the customer's house, is the fastest Internet connection available to the consumer. Verizon customers accessed this promise of broadband through the Verizon Surround portal.

My contribution was to provide sales, marketing and help & support content for users of the Verizon Surround portal. The Surround portal was always changing and provided quite a challenge to us content creators – particularly with the addition of animated Flash and video with which I was tasked.

MAIN VERIZON WEBSITE:

At the moment, Verizon has chosen to use the Internet domain 'verizon.com' for its main place on the Web for the sale of all things Verizon.

In support of Verizon's Marcom department, our team was called on to provide creative content services for the '.com' domain. It was here where we were able to begin to introduce Flash video into Verizon ads.

One of the responsibilities that I was called on to perform was to monitor web analytics and generate reports for the Marcom department.

VERIZON NEWSROOM:

When the Verizon Newsroom was first launched in late 2007, the website was just out of development and ready for content. Verizon had hired news, sports and travel writers to create content for the new site. At the same time, Verizon FiOS was beginning to successfully proliferate into markets across the nation.

From NYC, Verizon's FiOS TV channel was established. I partnered with them to create a weekday one minute news break that was presented over the fiber optic FiOS TV network and was compressed for the web to run on the Verizon Newsroom website (shown here).

ROCK RYDERS:

The Rock Ryders Motorcycle group was established as a Christian outreach to San Diego's motorcycle community.

The core philosophy behind the Rock Ryders is that you can have a great time without coming off as a stodgy buzz-kill. It's this mentality that has given the Rock Ryders a big 'genuine' with the area's motorcycle community.

After joining the group myself, I was asked to come up with a website that reflected the style of the Rock Ryders.

I used the Joomla CMS and custom edited the CSS of the template. I added several free open source and commercially available extensions.

ROCK THE WORD:

Because I had first approached writing from a long time commercial and technical perspective, over recent years, I have aligned myself with a few creative writing groups and clubs.

Like the Rock Ryders, the Rock the Word writers group is associated with the Rock Church San Diego. After joining the group, I was asked to be on the groups' steering committee. It wasn't long after, that it became obvious that we needed a website to publish the many writings of the groups members.

Again, I used the Joomla CMS and custom edited the CSS of the template. I added several free open source and commercially available extensions.
